CALD Community Voices Hosts “Single Mum’s Journey: Strength and Grace”

Melbourne, Australia – CALD Community Voices, a prominent advocate for cultural diversity and inclusion, recently hosted the “Single Mum’s Journey: Strength and Grace” event at the Glenroy Community Hall in Melbourne on May 4th, 2024. This heartfelt gathering brought together single mothers from diverse cultural backgrounds, shining a spotlight on their remarkable journeys and contributions to their families and communities.

Led by Niru Tripathi, Founder and President of CALD Community Voices, the event kicked off with a warm welcome emphasizing inclusivity and celebration. Attendees were treated to a diverse array of presentations, panel discussions, and guest speakers, offering profound insights into the challenges faced by single mothers and the empowering nature of their experiences. Ms. Tripathi expressed sincere gratitude to all panelists, speakers, supporters, contributors, volunteers, and media partners whose unwavering dedication played a pivotal role in making the event a resounding success. She emphasized the importance of continued engagement with CALD Community Voices’ initiatives, inviting attendees to join in their ongoing efforts to promote inclusivity and empowerment within Australian society.

Keynote speaker Nandita Chakrabroty, an esteemed author, captivated the audience with her emphasis on women’s empowerment and resilience. Notable speakers including Jenny Davidson, CEO of the Council of Single Mothers and their Children, and Vivienne Nguyen AM, VMC Chairperson, further enriched the event with their inspiring messages of support and encouragement.

The event also featured a poignant panel discussion facilitated by Bobby Lama, where speakers Steph Power, Monica Kalra, and Suad Altayp Rejk shared their personal stories of single motherhood and empowerment, leaving a lasting impact on all attendees.

Attendees were treated to a variety of artistic performances, including a moving recitation of poetry by Roopa Kamath and a captivating short film written by Niru Tripathi and directed by John Kiran Joseph. The evening was further enhanced by an exquisite art display by Castein from Art-ish and a heartwarming mother-daughter duet dance performance.

The success of the event was made possible through the generous support of Merri-bek City Council and Australia Nepal Public Link (ANPL), whose contributions were instrumental in bringing the event to fruition. Additionally, Priya Kalyanimath’s thoughtful gifts from Punar added a special touch to the occasion, further enhancing the atmosphere of appreciation and celebration. The program was emceed by Dr. Sabi Kaphle, Nirjala Gauli from ANPL gave a thank you note, and the event concluded with a group photo capturing the spirit of unity and empowerment.
