Melbourne, Australia- In a resounding display of community spirit and environmental advocacy, the Federation of Nepalese Community Association of Australia (FeNCAA, Victoria) organised a remarkable program today to promote awareness of global warming and support the preservation of Everest.

The walk, held on the Yarra River side in the city, witnessed the Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Hon. Colin Brooks MP, gracing the occasion as the chief guest, further amplifying the significance of the cause. Minister Colin Brooks’ presence inspired all, endorsing the cause and highlighting the importance of collective action in safeguarding our planet’s natural wonders.
The event commenced with a spirited walk, symbolising everyone’s commitment towards preserving the majestic Everest and combating the pressing issue of global warming.

Adding flavour to the event, a delightful BBQ was served. This occasion also served as a platform to recognise and appreciate the dedicated volunteers and Nepali community language schools who consistently contribute to the betterment of community and the noble cause advocated by FeNCAA.

A highlight of the program was the distribution of prizes to the kid’s participants in a drawing competition. Over 200 children had participated a week before, infusing the event with creativity and enthusiasm.

Speaking with CALD Voices, Bhola Giri (State Coordinator of Victoria, FeNCAA) expressed his joy in providing drawing competition an additional layer of pleasure and encouragement to all kids, emphasising the organisation’s commitment to promoting artistic expression and community engagement. “The walk for Everest and global warming awareness has become a signature program of FeNCAA,” shared Giri. “We firmly believe that global warming is a global issue, and we must strive to ensure that Everest remains untainted by its effects.”

Various community organisations came together with their representatives and presidents to address the global issue. They shared their perspectives, insights, and concerns, emphasising the urgent need for collective action to combat climate change and protect our planet.

As the program drew close, Bom Yonzon, the Vice President of FeNCAA, thanked all participants and attendees. He conveyed appreciation for the continued support shown by the community organisations, their representatives, and members in joining hands to raise awareness about the global issue of paramount importance.
